Eddie Van Halen died today and I am crushed. He is the reason I started playing guitar. I know this doesnt have anything to do with guns but Ted Nugent took him shooting and he liked it.

I have been playing guitar since I was 12. I'm 73 now. Eddie V was one of my favorites. He changed the course of music in a big way. Besides he could really play. The guy was an innovator. And he never learned to read music. Just got er done.

Sad news, they were just making it big when I was in High School . Runnin' with devil was like an anthem.

A truly great guitarist and musician. RIP EVH

Long live the ultimate atomic punk!!! I know Hendrix was great and Page most certainly, but this guy was right with them!

End of an era in Rock n’ Roll. I go see Sammy and Michael Anthony whenever they are in town to try to relive some of their great songs when they were with Alex and Eddie. Sad there will never be a chance for a reunion.

Eddie took everything that Hendrix, Clapton and Page did, then showed them all how do play it fast.

Amazing guitarist. Gifted.

Yup! Sad day!:( That man could play a guitar like nobody else. ;) I can’t remember half the parties where we had a packed house, a keg on the porch and Van Halen rattling the windows at volume 10.

Saw Van Halen in Louisville’s Freedom Hall on Feb. 9, 1984, and it was an incredible show.
Ears rang for hours afterward.

Yup sad day with Eddie V gone. He made great music! I was always a Ted Nugent fan now I want to hear "Home Bound".

Favorite band growing up. Saw them in concert around 80 or 81 With Roth and a few years later with Hagar. Man they were loud! I was 16-17 when I first saw them...was my first concert.

He was a genius musician. If you listen a lot of his runs and arpeggios are classical in content. He was a so unique he will go down as one the finest guitar players in history. Just like Neal Peart from Rush dying this year was like a gut punch.
