I can only find material on reloading, necking down 223 brass and I don’t want to begin such a project. I reload shotgun...12-20 and 28ga and I’m not sure if I need another endeavor.
Beat me to it. I was going to suggest 204 ruger for prairie dogs or 223 for paperA different thought....if the rifle has value...either as sentimental or real...you might just have it rebarreled in a factory caliber, something you will use. If it is a 17-222 you could do any of the 223 family....222, 223, 204 ruger, etc.
Put it in the classifieds and sell it, there are enough fans of oddball cartridges that it will sell eventually if fairly priced.I can only find material on reloading, necking down 223 brass and I don’t want to begin such a project. What rifle did you inherit, what brand. It’s a custom rifle obviously but what action is it built on? Fishing for estimates, not conversation.I guess the winemaker is sampling his wares and not perusing our forum.
17VLD - Any chance on a photo or 2 of your rifle?!I really enjoy my Sako 17-222 it has an older 10 twist barrel smithed by PO Ackley so I limit it to 25 grain bullets, the previous owner could not get it to group well with 30 grain bullets??I wish the OP would get back on and tell us about the rifle, even if he is just fishing for a sale.I use mine for a handy, walking type Varmint rifle. The 17-222 is a breeze to make brass for,my Javelina however takes a bit more time to produce brass though
