I have a Winchester 1873, in 38-40, that was passed down to me from my Great Grandfather. Once a year, on his birthday, it gets taken to the ranch range and a box of ammo is run through it.

I have one also passed down from my dad.

John Moses Browning (genuflect) is one of my all time favorite designers.
I got to shoot my Father’s M1911A1 at Holder Complex when he was a Tank Commander (M60A1s) at Ft. Knox -1972. Loved them ever since, and wound up shooting them as a member of my MP CO’s Combat Pistol Team, and later in a Practical Defense League.
Have had 5 over the years, don’t really need to add to the current collection, but……..

I have one my great grandfather took from a guy trying to rob his gas station. Front sight missing so it would not snag on the pocket when he pulled it out.

Very neat, Butch. I have two Mauser HSc pistols here, very neat pistols. As much as I detest Nazi marked items, those will stick around.

With box your are talking in the 1000 dollar range.

You can get a full set of replacement springs from Wolfe. Do it, even if you don't put them in. Magazines are @$60 from Triple K.

I have one, not nearly as nice, and it shoots great. The only things I don't like are the little puny safety, sights and mag release. I saw one that Roy Huntington had Novak put a 1911 mini safety, sights and a frame mounted mag release. I called them and apparently Roy has juice, I don't. Nope was the flat answer.

BTW this gun is responsible for my high end left ear hearing loss. I ripped thru a mag at age 12 when I had an ear infection. Ya, that ringing noise has yet to go away 50 years later.

The story that I was told by my best friend of 66yrs is his Uncle was behind a line of German prisoners. One of them reached up and put this pistol above the door thinking nobody saw him. That is the story on the HSc.
