I hate to post this but.. Tikka or CZ?

Pull my finger
I have been looking at a new 204. Started out looking at CZ, as I have like 3 already.. The Tikka came up somehow so I have been looking at them as well .. The Tikka Hunter specifically in 204 and the CZ 527 in 204.. Doesn't seem to be much info or reviews on the Tikka.. Anyone have one? Or have experience?

FWIW I already have a Savage 12 204 with accu-trigger and accu-stock and 26" fluted barell Good shooter but I need a cannon carriage to pack it around.

I have had a 527 in .204 and burned out the barrel in a big way at 500 rounds. Beyond firecracking. Had major stress cracks (as in criss-cross cracks through lands and grooves), chunks of lands missing, etc.. It shot great until all this took place. I WILL say that I love the rest of the rifle. The single set trigger is nice, the stock is a class act, I simply re-barreled it with a Douglas and never looked back.
Had a Tikka 595 as well, loved everything about it except the plastic bottom, eh, material. Plastic mag release and bolt shroud. Very nice trigger and accurate. Win some, lose some. It worked well. Tough choice really, I would lean towards the Tikka for out of the box accuracy and longevity.

For out of the box factory rifles coming through my shop, Tikka T3's continue to impressive me. Functionality is better then many, a nice adjustable trigger, from a bore-scope about the best looking chambers and barrels of all factory rifles I've looked down. And all I have worked up loads for have impressed me for accuracy.

They have been my 1st suggestion when ever someone asked me which factory hunting/varmint rifles I like best, for a few years now.

Tikka and get a lighter trigger spring from Ernie the Gunsmith. Super easy to install. Gets the trigger down to a crisp pound or less.

Sorry to go off the OP Topic !

I have one ( 8t 223 ) and like it a lot, shoot really well for a factory gun. I'm interested in your thoughts re action work as I have just seen one in a LG build, with a sleeved bolt and trued up rec face. worked very well. Im thinking of doing one the same, going to machine up a single shot sled like the davidson's, only thing is even with a replacement spring, the trigger is still no jewell

Thanx for the replies... The Tikka will be at the top of the list when the time comes.. I do love my CZ's, I have a 222 rem in 527 and a 455 in 17hummer.. My biggest complaint with em is bolt clearance.. The Tikka I am looking at is the Hunter model in 204.. I don't care for plastic stocks.. Thanx again for the input. If anyone else wants to add something feel free.

I'm on my 2nd 8 twist .223 the first shot bug holes. So hopefully this one does too, it's actually the t3x. I like the extra palm swell piece it came with.
Iv only ever adjusted the trigger and lengthened the mag.

I don't own a CZ.:( Prolly cause I buy the Tikkas instead. Great trigger, smooth action and very accurate for a factory gun. I like the older 595 action the most. I see them for sale, once in a while and try not to buy them all. I just started making some walnut stocks to replace the plastic ones.

I have a CZ 527 in 17 hornet. deadly accurate rifle but I HATE the controlled round feed. Coming from the custom world and shooting single shots, i don't like being mandated to the magazine every round.

Josh,

Was this pic taken as you dropped to the ground? Lol.

;)Funny.:) My last project was that frustrating! This run is for me and Christmas presents, i.e. FUN. I did have splatter like that in my last shop, that was blood. A momentary lack of attention allowed my thumb to "contact" my table saw blade.

For those who don't like the plastic Tikka stocks....they do sell them with wood stocks as well.

Oh...and my vote would be for a Tikka as well.

Yes, but I make a rendition of the discontinued Master Sporter stock out of walnut. Makes a good gun even better, for me anyway.

What I don't like about tikka's

A. very long throats, can't touch the lands when rifle is brand new

B. can not load the rifle single feed from the loading port, has to be loaded from the plastic magazine

Deal killer for me
