Jay Lynn Gore showed up at my shop at the house yesterday. He had a holster and belt in his hands. He said that it is for me. Wow! He knew for years that I wanted a holster and belt that he would make, but long forgot about it. Cancer and heart problems have really slowed him down, but as you can see, he does fine work. One of My colt SAA is in it that I bought from a forum member. The picture does not do it justice.

Damn, the picture is too big?? I took it with my old Brownie!

My Colt sad tale goes back to the early 70's, can't remember exactly date but it had to be after 1972. I was hunting groundhogs in a remote area of Greene County, PA, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, at least back in those days.

This was a large sheep herding area in the 1880's and one of the farms I was hunting was now a small cattle farm. The farmer who was quite an older fellow offered to sale me a Single Action Colt 45, 7 1/2" barrel. It has some holster wear on the finished but appeared to be in good mechanical condition. He said the pistol belong to his father and grandfather. I can't remember the exact asking price, but I think it was about $50, a tidy sum in the early 1970, at least for me.

I had just gotten out of the Army and money was tight. I really didn't need a fixed sight 45 caliber pistol, so I passed. That pistol is probably worth a small fortune today.

Been there - sort of! Had a guy offer me a Colt Thunderer (.41 caliber 1877) for $50. He was a contractor for the company that I worked for and needed gas money to get to his next job. I told him I would meet him with the money after work (not doing that on work premises). He never showed...

Seeing that 6 gun reminds me of a customer that would come into the shop to get his car serviced. Early VW square back and he, being a sheep/cattle rancher ALWAYS a 6 gun next to his seat out in plane sight. Big ranch area to cover and LOTS of rattle snakes.
Reminds me of my Mom telling me of my Grandpa wearing stove piped on his legs when he went out so he didn't get snake bit.
