I found a Remington 700 action for sale but…..

The guy selling it says the bolt was bushed from a .308 size to a .223 size face, I have no experience with this process…..what say you guys……

Bushed bolts are nice when done by a competent source. I’d ask him who did the work, if that checks out it’s a positive not a negative…..

Depends on who did the work and how good of a job. Does it extract, and eject cartridges ? Is it set up for a magazine? Or is it a single shot? What kind of extractor? Bushed usually implies that the firing pin size was reduced and made to be a captured firing pin, has that been done or just the blot face changed from .473 to .376.

Sako extractor and he says it works as it should it’s just an action right now so I have no way of verifying operation

Look on the net the dangers of a Sako extractor in a Remington bolt I damaged one of mine and had a Sako installed in it, not sure I would do it again. As cheesy as a Remington extractor is it will not blow down the raceway into your brain. Many use them as do I but you need to consider this before you buy. Every thing sounds good, but no one on this site can see it but you. Back before all the crazy prices came to be, I had a Remington bolt but no action, I had a PGT bolt put in a gun to get a bigger diameter bolt to make it tighter. Bought a brand new SS ultra mag action only, for my bolt for $220 from Davidsons.
