I forgot my lube at home.

I'm visiting family at mom's house for a couple of weeks. My brother and I shot pistols and my SFAR yesterday. Today have to clean four Sigs and my AR308. I brought my cleaning kit with C4 and Eliminator but forgot my FP10 and Mpro7 at home 550 miles away.

I rummaged around moms shop and found moly grease and 2 cycle oil I could mix, or some old can of TAL-5 made by wd40.

I plan on shooting again a few times before I leave.
The nearest gun store is miles away, would any of these old lubs work ? Or should I leave the film of Mpro7 on till I get home?

I'd use (sparingly) the Moly EP Grease to lube the bolts and slide rails, etc. Use the TAL 5 to wipe down everything else for corrosion protection. It's outside of your normal process, but for short term, it should be fine. Maybe somebody smarter than me will chime in.

AutoZone. A qt. of petroleum oil based light vis hyraulic fluid $8.50. It's all I use. Pet oil has been the best machinery lube for over 100 years. Throw all th rest away. I roll 5 at a time on a pad.

Any lubricant is better than none; don't overthink it. If you are afraid of the stuff you decide to use not lasting a full session, bring some along and reapply halfway through.

My vote would be the grease for higher pressure areas (bolts) and the TAL-5 for sliding stuff. But I suspect that anything would be fine anywhere for the short term.

Did you drive to the range? I've pulled a few drops off a dipstick when it was all I had. It ain't perfect, but can get you by.
