I can’t be the only one

If I read the Hornady site correctly, they have 2 different products: A wax (competing with Imperial, I assume) in a metal tin, and their Unique lube (in a plastic tub.) Never tried, nor seen, the Unique.

I bought some of the Hornady wax to melt into a smaller tin to keep in the die box to neck size at the range (couldn't get Imperial at the time); it seems to work as well as Imperial in the sizing department, but it (in my experience) degrades a bit if you lube a bunch of cases and set them aside for couple of days before actually sizing. The Hornady is also a "stiffer" formulation than Imperial (more towards the candle spectrum than Imperial's tending towards a really thick grease consistency.)
The plastic tub of unique is what I’ve been using. I had to remove a stuck case for my son, he tried to be lazy and used one shot spray. I showed him what I used, and I haven’t heard about anymore stuck cases by him.

I bought a spray bottle of Dillon sizing lube many years ago and it worked well, I reproduced it with yellow wire pulling lube and alcohol.

You really cannot beat Imperial as a cost effective solution to this problem. It just seems to last about, forever. I’m sure some of the “home brews” are very good also, but Imperial is just so good and just cheap to use.

I tried the Hornady spray stuff once, one of the kids gave it to me for Father’s Day. I just did not like the stuff. Nothing got stuck, but I just did not like it. I tried putting the cases in a loading tray and spraying them. This seemed to use up a whole lot of the stuff trying to get all sides covered. Then I tried the bag method. It was ok, but working with a whole bunch of lubed cases at one time was just really messy. Then, I really was not sure about the coverage I had on each case and that really bugged me. With the Imperial, I know every case is lubed properly. You use it on a case, run it through and wipe it off. Very simple, no big mess. Takes longer than spray, but I’m retired and not doing anything, anyway.

If I had to guess I think I have probably loaded 7500 rounds with my tin of imperial wax and its still over half full! Just lasts forever!

To answer the OPs original question...Yes mink oil should work great for case lube. I have not used it myself, but the consistency of mink oil is suitable as a lube agent. Use sparingly as usual....

I have used Mink Oil as lube. It worked for me, not saying it is better than Imperial but use what you have.

As far as stuck cases, no big deal. Learn how to remove them, you probably will have one stuck sooner or later.

Another vote for lanolin and alcohol here. I also use it on my press and it does stop my hand from being so chapped in the winter time. I'm a plumber and I've also used derivatives of beeswax but it just turned out to be a mess. Have fun,
G.

I use a mixture of anyhydrous lanolin and pure Neetsfoot oil in making bullets. And while it works great for case sizing, you can't beat Imperial when it comes to ease of removal.

Good shootin' -Al

Once I discovered Lanolin and isopropyl alcohol 1-10, I stopped looking. I probably have a pint of Imperial in tins all over the place, but the lanolin spray is what I use.

I used Imperial Wax for many many years. Was running low, hard Burt’s Bees Hand Salve, which on use on my hands during the winter.
Decided to try the Burt’s on some aging .308W brass just in case. Worked very well, been using it for 3 years. Much larger metal tin than Imperial Wax.
It is also excellent for the hands 3-4 months a year.
