I amazed myself

I know this isn't bragging rights or whatever, but today I amazed myself with my new to me RPR in the (gasp) 6.5 CM. Took it to a range that offered an 850 yard steel target for certification. Have to certify before they will turn you loose on it. Anyway, I got out my dope software, dialed in all the numbers and it gave me a 21.75 up MOA count. Not knowing what I was doing, I dialed it in and took a bipod positions off a bench. Cold bore hit, second shot hit, third hit and I just stopped. I certified in three shots. Still not sure what I did right, but I'll figure it out for sure. That was freaking fun and I'm probably hooked. Next week he has a 2 gun shoot with rifle at known and unknown distances and a 20 round pistol course. I'm thinking yeah, why not and there goes another couple of grand....ka'ching.

I kept thinking I might see a zombie or two, but they were taking the day off I guess. Guys, these were my first long shots since Vietnam when I was taking 800-1000 with an M14. But now I'm 70.5 and my eyes are starting to give me fits. What was an iron site shot is now a very high powered scope shot. Couple of more years and I'll be using a grenade launcher.
