I have two of them, a 94 and a 96. I use them both, they are great. BarlowI hunt with a 114 year old Swedish Mauser, nothing matched on it so I sporterized it . I shoot reduced loads of H4895 w/ 129 grain Hornady Interlocks in it,very accurate . It's not to shabby with full loads of H4350 either . Not much to look at but it shoots just fine .
1926 Drilling in 6.5x58R Sauer/16ga/16ga that I regularly take out for coyotes when hunting thicker cover,
I agree, great guns . I would like a 94 someday,I made a pseudo 94 from a 96 . The Mannlicher stock turned out OK but not original .I just gave that one to my Brother,His first deer season with it.I have two of them, a 94 and a 96. I use them both, they are great. Barlow
Good to see you taking the time to help a youngster do it right, thanks for that .Now they have the skill and confidence to know that the bullet will go where they aim.Had a younger shooter come to the range for our sight-in clinic last Sunday with a very clean Mosin that his grandfather gave to him before he passed this summer. After drifting the front sight and bringing him up a notch on the ladder sight, he fired 3 shots into a 2" triangle, directly at his aiming point at 100yds. He is determined to get his venison with that Mosin and I really hope that he does.
Great story,Grandson shot his first coyote with this sweet little Winchester Model 43, 218 Bee. Mid 50's vintage rifle that gets used a lot. jd
