Hunting with 300 RUM need advice

I just received a used 300 RUM.
Rem 700 stainless Sendero.

After researching powder, I have decided to go with Retumbo powder.
I located 3 pounds which will be more than enough for my hunting needs.
This gun might not even see the field, but I want it ready if I ever do go on another elk, Nilgai, or bear hunt.

My 3 questions to those that have actual 300 RUM (or equivalent) field experience with large game are:

180 or 200 grn bullets?
Amax, Barnes, Berger, or Nosler bullets?
why?

I have amax 208 now, all others I will have to buy. I am not looking for bench accuracy. 3/4" to 1" moa is more than enough for what I will be doing.

Depending on your lot of Retumbo, you will probably end up between 90.0 and 94.0 grains with a 200 Accubond. Works for me and shoots under an inch at 300 yards.

i have shot the accubond in the 7mm mag. Nice 1 shot elk kill 7 yrs ago.

Do the 200 have the same performance at the fast speeds?

I'm running over 3200 fps and I've never had an elk or deer drop on the spot with the accubonds. They don't go far, but the old Partitions are still my favorite

I have the exact same Rem stainless Sendero. I shot a 180 gr. swift for a few years with very good accuracy.
I now shoot a 168 grain Barnes at 3240 ave velocity with under MOA accuracy. I have killed several mule deer with both bullets and great results. Ever now and then I take it coyote hunting...LOL. I feel that most bullets 165 up to 200 grain would work with load work-up. The 300 ultra is inherently a very accurate round in my opinion. Funny thing though my rifle likes the old imr 4350 at 82.0 grains ...go figure!

An Amax from a 300rum hitting an elk at short range - if it hits heavy bone - I think I'd want something more likely to stay together like an accubond/partition/tsx/ttsx/etc.

From the 300 RUM, I‘ve shot elk at various ranges under different conditions using the 178 Amax then the 190SMK and then went to 208 Amax and then the 200 Nosler Accubond. I’ve stayed with the 200 Accubond. Under most circumstances it’s a one jump and dead bullet.

I found a couple of boxes of Barnes 180 TTSX and have decided on that bullet.

I will.do load development in the the week or two.

I have used my 300 RUM on a deer and hog.
165 Swift Scirocco, Retumbo.
Deer was at 30 yards quartering towards me. Shoulder bones were dust and chips. When gutted the heart and lungs were red brown liquid. Bullet exited.
Strange thing with this much damage it ran about 40 yards, towards and past me. Had not gotten the memo it was dead.
Hog was facing me, right between the eyes exiting out bottom even with hind legs. Decided not to clean it. Stuff in there nobody wanted to encounter.
FrIend/Landowner said to "stop using that ack ack gun" on his hogs.

Big cases like the RUMs call for big (heavy) bullets. I'd go with a 200 Accubond for most animals. I used the 250 Accubonds in my 338RUM and they flew right through several bull moose. None of the moose got very far. One was flipped over backwards and was stone dead in seconds.

I've had great accuracy and killing success with the 208 amax in a 300wm. The 208's have been discontinued, but if you have them with retumbo great combo. I now use the berger 215 hybrid!
