Hunting sling. What's best for a heavier rifle?

If carrying any kind of pack, pick up one of those plastic hooks that go the the pack webbing to keep the sling from sliding off your shoulder.

I hate slings sliding on wool jackets so I have sewn velcro on the jacket and a bit on the sling and no more sliding, using a small enough patch on the sling and it is quiet.

I do a lot of coyote hunting and pack my rig back into a number of controlled access areas either by bike, XC skis, snowshoes or shanks mare these leave my hands free for handle bars or poles and it never slips.

For the AR double sling made with two padded slings through the same side mounted sling swivels.

For bolt actions and shotguns, I have my chair, decoys and shooting sticks attached also.

Nimrod back scabbard My nephew uses a Ebbelstock(spl?) scabbard that he added should straps to instead of using their whole pack system.

I use claw slings, lots of colors and patterns. It doesn't slip off the shoulder. Light. Made in USA.

I used a sling for qualification while in the service, never used the sling while in the field or combat. For me, I don't ever see myself using the sling while hunting either.

A bud will be in MT, Fall of 2020. He is thinking ahead for a scope for his 600yd gun. He has an S&B 4-12, 42mm obj but no parallax adj. He asked me abt scope wgts. I'm wondering about sling designs out there that will help w percieved carry wgt. He is mid thirties, good shape, 6'2". Not his first trip W for deer and speed goats but thinks there will be a decent amount of walking.

I know nothing of hunting slings as I kill paper now but want to do some volume shooting in the squirrel fields.

What say you?
Look up Limbsaver Kodiak air firearm slings. I was a bit skeptical at first but now own two, stays on your shoulder and only $30 bucks

NO brand as I make my own slings since most everything on the market has a thin strap or just does not feel right for carrying (to me). I use belt webbing from 2-4" wide depending on my gun, then trim down the ends to run through the swivels and sew the heck out of them. Wider rides better on my shoulder and does not "gouge" into my outter wear.

If using a pack, add a Kifaru Gun Bearer to it. Just a few days ago, used one on an Alaskan Caribou hunt. Put in many miles in the most difficult terrain I have ever traveled. Makes carrying immeasurably easier and allows very quick access to your rifle.

This is what I use. They work great with a pack and when navigating thick cover.

These are OK if you carry a pack and don't need instant access to the rifle.

I used the Safari sling many years in Wyoming for elk while I lived there. They were also perfect for keeping your rifle on your lap while driving the ATV.
