Hunting Rifle Paint Job

Get a tree or bush limb that has leaves on it. Spray paint the limb and leaves then slap the limb on the gun stock. Use a few different colors if you’re feeling froggy.

I don't really think you need camouflage on your rifle for hunting. If an animal gets spooked it's probably not the rifle it alerted to anyway.
With that said, I just use krylon in some darker blobs over a lighter background. I prefer larger blobs that break the outline into pieces over a smaller pattern. Often at a distance camo just looks like a big dark blob and a camp rifle looks like a dark stick so I prefer to keep it lighter in color. But too light looks like a light colored stuck that stands out too.

That was a blue stocked Kimber Montana. Left the base and just sponged color over it and clear coat on top. So far, it's sticking. The stock is like sandpaper and probably helps.

Thats a Browns Precision Pound'r I refinished. I wanted some sort of texture. I used a primer. And I had 3 or 4 colors of textured spray paint left from treestands...thats why the brown base coat seems different colors....it is. Lol. Only sponge color was black. I used an automotive adhesion promoter on that stock. I can't remember when. I think after the primer maybe.

The adhesion promoter really helped.

Wish it had a little more texture. It's there. But it's not as grippy as I'd hoped.

No, Krylon or Rustoleum works. Top it off with several light coats matte clearcoat, then hit it with a scotchbrite pad to knock down the shine.

The little packs of sea sponges at Wally World are supposedly the best because of the irregularities, but I used an old sponge & tore off odd chunks.
Krylon makes a spray paint that is advertised to have super adhesion on lawn furniture with a minimal surface clean up with soap and water.

Forgot my most recent. Black Encore stock. Just couldn't have it...

Thats the one I used the automotive adhesion promoter on. And it seems to be doing its job.

That green did NOT look like that on the cap or when it was wet.. Man was I disappointed lol. Not disappointed enough to strip it and start over though lol.

I agree....it's not so much about camo for me. Just rather not stare at a black plastic stock all day. And, for turkey especially, it does IMO make a difference and help. Deer probably not so much. But turkey will spot a black or a shiny gun. I've had them wig out over a tiny camera on a tripod.

A first glance, I thought your rifle had Wi-Fi connectivity and that I was way behind the technology curve.

Hahahaha took me a minute to see what yoh were talkng about......it syncs to the red dot

Thats just rubber in the Encore stocks. Tape residue in that pic...the rubber inserts are back to gray now. It's in part of the grip too.

That 20ga barrel was tough to find but made a dandy little turkey smasher.

Brownells Aluma-Hyde...this 284 Mtn. rifle is over 30 years old, been everywhere.A spray touch every couple years ,looks new. AND I can find it if I set it down!
