hunting load

have loaded for deer hunting 41gr of h414 and 100gr btsp speer brand. this year went to practice shoot . the load would not group . and was off the bull. after some scope adjustment no improvement .tried some 80 gr loads, all the scope adjustments kicked in,had to undo all back to original settings. then the 80 gr loads shot to the bull and inside 3/4 in . 100 gr loads still not grouping . the season was 2 days away so i bought factory win 100 gr to use . got one deer at 50 yds no problem missed a second later on at 200 yds . not happy . i have used this 100 gr load for 20+ years no problem . any thoughts?

I assume you're shooting a .243 win? Could be twist in your barrel, throat could be eroding, could need cleaned, might be a piece of crap scope, could be the bases or rings, is this the same rifle you've used for the last twenty years that you've been using this load? If so I bet it's got more than a little to do with the throat.

When was the last time you cleaned your gun really well, like with a jag and some jb compound to strip it then a good copper cleaner to soak it with? In the 20+ years how much has your seating depth changed? If a good cleaning dont help its safe to say the throats gone time to rebarrel and start fresh.

thanks for all the responses . i spent some time today checking bullet seating , i seat touching lands , seems fine . will start looking at rifle soon .

Probably nothing that you don't already know, but in case, H414 absolutely needs a magnum primer or accuarcy will be very dismal.
