Hunting in South Africa , wow!!!

Hog, it'll be a cold day before I pay someone to take me hunting. But to each his own. ;)

Well, you can stop thinking about ever hunting anywhere in the world but the lower 48 of the US. Mexico, all European, Asian, African countries require the hiring of outfitters. Canada and Alaska require outfitters for some species. Even where they are not required, outfitters are often necessary with today's busy schedules. I don't have a bush plane, a string of horses, wall tents, pack equipment and knowledge of a wilderness area to hunt elk, mule deer, sheep, moose or goats without one.

To each his own as you say...

I think I'll stick with shooting PDs!!

Sometimes the little bastids is hard to hit!

You would love shooting springhares at night. Just when you get the cross hairs on them, they jump like a kangaroo. ;D

Nice ''trophy''. How about donating to the site or buying some advertising space? I think it would go along way with the guys who would consider going on a safari with you.

Well, I just got back from nine days with Barefoot Africa safaris, if you have never hunted Africa, it is impossible to tell what it is like. We killed 11 in nine days, wildebeast, zebra, impala, warthog, kudu, gemsbok, blesbuck. Compared to a North American elk or bear, it is a super bargain. We could have shot many more. Without a problem. four of the eleven are Rolland ward.

Yesterday I went out to "break the code" on my .416 Rem. with 400gr. Bullets. My gun is a pre-64 M70. I loaded both Barnes and Swift a-frames. Twice I had the X bullets do a magazine lock-up on me. I have been using the 350 X's with no problem. Even with the bullets seated as far as I could, they were just a wee too long for my magazine box. The Swift A-frames ran like butter. You will never guess which bullet I am going to use. ;) I am using Remington nickel brass and 75gr. Varget. Quarter sized groups at 100 yards. That'll work on my Cape Buffalo! I have a Trijicon 1-4X German post with the green dot. It worked great on a Bison a couple of years ago. The 350 gr. triple shock made a half inch hole through his neck bone. I'm looking forward to this hunt. We leave July 31st.

My PH is sold on Swift bullets for anything. Our TSX worked fine even though we lost some petals. recovered 6 of 12 bullets shot. I used the TTSX in a 338 06. They may open up just a bit to soon for heavier game. Shot a Zebra at 50 yds at a quartering away. It left a siver dollar size entrance hole and cut the heart in half and lodged in the off shoulder after blowing the heart and lung to pieces, it still ran 50 yds before it dropped. Tough game over there especiall the wildebeast, believe what they say about them, TUFF TUFF. Front of lung blown, off lung blown and partial heart shot, and ran 600 yds after first front of lung shot. Gemsbok shot at 200 yds with pass thru Lung and ran 150 yds. If you have never been, save your money and go, unbeliveable experience

After looking and reading all this, it is interesting.

Did not know you shoot giraffe. Guess I had the "Bambi" syndrome and did not know it. You eat those things?

Have no clue where I would find another to go and just took apart my 375 H&H, figuring I was too old. People ever go by themselves?

Captain,
I took my wife over to South Africa last September and we had an amazing time. It was just the two of us in both camps as it was then end of the season. She shot a couple zebras and a couple impalas, I shot the rest of our game. You are never too old to experience Africa!

The jackal and springhare combo will be on my wall by the end of the month. ;D They fell to the .17 Fireball last year.

Don't do Facebook, Twitter or any other of those social media. Would rather spend my time involved in motorcycles, shooting or fishing.

I believe someone would mount one. They must have some giant ceilings.

Captian Mal,

Yes we hunt Giraffe and yes the people here eat them!! They don't taste to bad!! Ask areaone he had some giraffe tail one night with us two weeks ago!!

And yes I do get clients that come alone!

I actually get a more one on one hunting than groups!

If there is anything else we can help with please let me know!
