Considering upgrading from an accustock to one of the above. Long action, bottom bolt release. Not interested in a chassis. I've got 2 custom 10 round magazines so I want to stay with stock bottom metal. Target shooting, bench and prone, no hunting. Thoughts? Advantages/disadvantages either way?

Boyds does not have a BR stock. HS Precision may be the way to go. Tommy Mc Richards Micro Fit if you like to finish it yourself.

Thanks. Not looking for a benchrest stock. I just typically shoot off a bench or prone with a bipod. I don’t compete. Just kill paper.

I have never been disappointed with an HS Stock. I have one on several rifles including a Savage and I find them very well made and comfortable.

I have an HS and Bell and Carlson, both wre great stocks, I prefer the B&C

B&C only has one stock for a long action with detachable magazine. I like the continuous aluminum rail in the HS, but I assume if you install the aluminum pillars in the Boyd’s and bed the recoil lug it would be fine.

I've been considering ordering a Boyd's Pro Varmint. Just yesterday I noticed Richard's Microfit now has a design they call Varmint Master and I really like the looks of it.

I guess with Boyd's you get a finished stock, Richard's you have work to do.

Give Kevin Rayhill a look, they make good savage stocks in a reasonable time frame.

The HS comes with pillars. It's a $62 option with the Boyd's, but that's only for the front pillar.

Stockade makes some very good stocks. You might talk(listen) to Kevin and see what his current lead times are.

I had a Savage .300 WM in a HS stock. It was very nice, comfortable, and did well under recoil. The only thing is it was top bolt release.

Appreciate all the input. I actually learned about 2 stocks I’ve never heard of. Richard’s looks good but I’m afraid it would be another unfinished project. Probably going to end up with the Boyd’s. Sounds like they’re all good choices.
