HPS Optic / Kahles

HPS Optic

Site $$ Sponsor
Greetings! HPS Optic is proud to announce that we are now a site sponsor for Accurate Shooter. We are the exclusive importer and distributor for Kahles optics here in the United States.

If you are not familiar with Kahles, please take a moment and visit the Kahles web site at www.kahlesusa.com for more information.

Members of this site will most likely be interested in either our K624i or K1050 rifle scopes. The K624i is a 6-24X56mm rifle scope with an FFP reticle. The K1050 is a 10-50X56 rifle scope with an SFP reticle. We are still waiting on the K1050 to finally arrive in the U.S. and we are anxious for members of this board to start using them. We'll be actively promoting it when we receive our first shipment.

This is just our introductory post to let the members know we are here and listening to feedback. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

I have 4 NF scopes and looking for one more. Eurooptic has the K1050 for $2450 with a $500 gift card with it. If they had it with a CH reticle rather than the in-stock double dot my search would be over. Since that is not an option the prices Bullets.com has for March scopes are enticing.

Kahles are certainly one of the finest optical components anywhere. I am glad to see they are getting into the "Long-Range" game. If I had not bought my NightForce Scopes, now that Kahles makes one I could use, I would MOST CERTAINLY buy it. Thanks for making one that fits well into "our" sports arena..

Often times, one must order the reticle one wants, Bob Lee. Which glass do you prefer? World renowned German Schott glass, or, it's Japanese counterpart?

Since counterpart means equal there wouldn't be a preference.

Though Nikon and Canon are counterparts to Leica, (Schott glass) the difference is quite "clear". They really aren't equal! My Leica camera lenses are heads above my Canon lenses, though the price is fairly comparable. Not trying to persuade you in one direction, nor another.

Does anybody know what the sizes of the dots on the dd and crosshair reticles are in moa?

The dot specifications I have list them in cm, so I did some quick math for you. The dot thickness at the center of the CH reticle measures 0.18cm/100m at 50X, which should come out to 0.062 MOA.

The top dot on the DD reticle measures 0.3cm/100m at 50X so that should come out to 0.103 MOA. And the bottom dot on the DD reticle measures 0.2cm/100m at 50X which gives me 0.069 MOA.

Hope that helps.

I picked up a Kahles scope used some years ago. I think I got it from a local gun store in his bargain stuff. Anyway, I didn't know what it was and picked it up and looked through it. I thought, wow! I asked the guy if I could take it outside and look through it. Wow again! It is a Helia Super 27. It looks like it is from the 60's or 70's. I think I paid $50 or $75 for it. I never have mounted it on anything. It has really nice glass. Cool old scope. It would make a really nice hunting scope.

Where are the modern Kahles scopes serviced? Is there a service facility in the US, or do they have to go back to Austria?

For that vintage scope, it would probably have to go back to Austria. We do have some minor servicing capabilities here in the U.S. but major work goes over seas. So far Kahles has been averaging about 4 weeks turn around time from the U.S. Please contact our customer service at info@hpsoptic.com or call 866-606-8779. Due to the age of the scope, servicing might take longer depending on parts availability and other factors, but that is purely a guess depending on what you would like us to take a look at for servicing.

HPS OPTIC, is it possible for Kahles to change a reticle? How much would this cost? I am tempted to get the DD and see if I like it.

I'm working on getting you an answer as I haven't personally worked with that request before. The person who handles these issues is unfortunately out of the office today, so I'll get you an answer as soon as I can. Alternately, you could also send an email to our customer service, info@hpsoptic.com or call 866-606-8779. Thank you.

I purchased my 1st K624i AMR in February of '14, and liked it so much that I bought another one in April, then another early this year. Also bought one of the latest (gen 3 to those of us on the 'net) versions when they became available this summer, so now have basically the same great scopes on all four of my competition rifles (I shoot mainly PRS-style practical/tactical steel matches).

I really like the AMR reticle - IMHO, it has only one flaw - the center four dots cover very small targets when they're out past 200yds. In that respect, the new SKMR & SKMR2 reticles are probably superior, but don't look for me to trade all four of my AMRs off just to deal with that one issue. I've had multiple opportunities to compare them to NF Beast, S&B HP 3-27x56, Leupold Mk 8s, Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x56, etc. I still prefer the Kahles turrets over anything else I've played with, love the parallax co-mounted under the elevation knob, and feel the optical quality is very good.

Welcome to Accurate Shooter!

Sorry I forgot to update this thread at the beginning of this year. HPS Optic is no longer the importer/distributor for Kahles as of Jan1, 2017. Swarovski Optik took over in that capacity. Please contact them for any questions. Thank you.

I have had the privilege to use a 10X-50X MOAK scope from Kahles this summer in our 600 yard competition. This is truly a great scope with crisp optics, sure adjustments, and the ability to hold point of aim with no drift (tested on a Hood scope checker). Now the time has come to return it and I hate to give it up, but I just cannot afford to keep it. I don't believe that a long range shooter will be disappointed with this scope. Imo skmr3 is perfect. Per-fect. Not busy, tiny mil dot, .2moa graduations, and plenty of windage in the Christmas tree. They listened to what marksmen want and delivered.
