6BR, BENCH HAS SENT PM AND HE IS SHOOTING SEVERAL VERY HIGH VELOCITY CARTRIDGES THAT WILL IN FACT CAUSE "BULLET SPLASH" ON COYOTES AND WOLVES WITH RESULTING RUN-OFF'S. IN MY OPINION HE IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK- HE NEEDS TO TRY AND CLOSE THE CAVITY OPENING SOME IF POSSIBLE. LAURIE MAY BE CORRECT--THE WHIDDEN POINTER MAY NOT DO IT.

Let's take up a collection and buy the Dogman a new keyboard....

Are you a "fur taker" or a depredation hunter? Am asking that due to the "splash' comment.

barefooter56, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE? A BULLET THAT "SPLASHES" ON A COYOTE (ESPECIALLY ON THE SHOULDER) QUITE OFTEN DOES NOT KILL. DOG WILL OFTEN SPIN IN 2 OR 3 CIRCLES AND THEN LEAVE THE AREA AT ABOUT MACH II. SOMETIMES THEY ACTUALLY FALL DOWN, ONLY TO GET BACK UP AGAIN AND LEAVE THE AREA AT THE AFORE MENTIONED SPEED.

The Whidden pointer, as other persone noted - works well. Not to hi-jack this thread - but does anybody know who makes a .20 caliber pointer or sleeve insert for the Whidden die?

I asked John Whidden about this two, three years back. The answer was that pointing 20s is a 'no-go'. I can't remember now the reason why.

Ok. so "splash" is the round blowing up on the hide. Not " splash' as in the coyote explodes. The "fur takers"don't like either. Depredation hunters don't like your definition of "splash". Point taken. What we sometimes suggest for the fur takers is to use our target bullet to lessen or prevent hide damage but bullet placement will be key for a clean kill. That all.
