Howa stock options and recommendations

Just placed my order from the PT&G sale on the Howa Bbl'd actions; .223 and .204R, both heavy barrel. Going to be my first experience with Howa actions. Looking for ideas on setting these up for bench and varmint shooting. Boyd's stocks have always been very attractive not sure about the thumb hole varmint stock? Just trying to get a feel for how others are shooting and what may fit my needs. Thanks in advance

Let me state I've never had to shop for a stock so with the many options from $80-500, I'm attempting to stay within a budget of $200. While both of them are beautiful they also demand justification on the price difference. I get the improve accuracy and ergonomics, but demand functional from shooting at a bench. I've never bedded or free floated the barrel, not that I'm unaware of what each does, just wanting to avoid any unnecessary work down the road.

That ACT-1 stock is pretty darned feature-rich for under $200.

We have been looking at the ACT-1 and its very enticing, just to new and not a lot of reviews out on it yet. Of course if it fastened on and rifle shot straight I wouldn't know if it was worth the extra $ or just looked good.
How or what should I be looking at in regards to not having to bed or float a stock?
Appreciate the comments, keep them coming.
