Howa or savage for build

In the near future want a 260 remington for long range groundhog work not competiton, Having two howa varminters in 204 and 223 i know how accurate they are, and i find the howa action to be better looking than the savage, but the savage seems like it may be the way to go because of pre chambered drop in barrels, I can get a new stevens 200 and a howa barreled action for about the same price, with aftermarket triggers and stocks for both the howa and savage going for about the same prices, How much more $ do you expect i would have rapped up in the project with having a barrel threaded chambered ect if i chose the howa action .
Thanks
Ben

The cost of the barreling job, whatever that turns out to be. Figure $200.

If you decide on the Savage route -- and maybe you should, because you've "been there and done that" :) with the Howa -- then keep me in mind when you're ready to start. I have a .260 Rem pre-fit Savage barrel by Lothar Walther. It's a project I might never get around to (like so many others), so I'd probably sell it. Brand new, never used/never installed. I have a Savage barrel nut wrench too, in the same condition. Heck, I even have .260 brass (new, believe it or not!).

I've built very accurate rifles on both, but I really like the Howa. Its machining is very straight, and the factory trigger can be made very light if you know how to do it safely. It is also the best feeding full-sized action for .223 sized cartridges. The price is very good. The only complaint could be the effort required to remove the factory installed barrels- they are on tight!
