Vanguards weak Firing Pin Assembly

Vanguards Weak Firing Pin Assembly

Notice in the photo above how the end cap on a Weatherby Vanguard is held in place with only a few threads. In the photo below you can see what happens when the firing pin blows back hitting the cap and blowing it off the assembly. You can see the indent in the cap where the firing pin hit.

The above photos are here to illustrate the weakness in a Weatherby Vanguard as compared to a Remington Firing pin assembly. This is a safety concern as the cap narrowly missed the shooters face and could of done serious harm. This was caused by a primer piercing and not a case rupturing. Weatherby will not honor their warranty or replace the parts on this rifle which was brand new. The photo above comparing the Vanguard to the Remington was included to show the difference in strength, notably the threads holding the cap onto the firing pin assembly.
