Howa 1500 Standard in .30-06

Hi, everyone! I own a Howa 1500 in .30-06 standard 22" barrel with a 1-10" twist.

Does any one have personal experience using this particular rifle shooting 600yard to 1000yards plus?

Any favourite loads? Tips on accurizing the stock ect?

I would recommend getting long-range shooting instructions. The rifle may not need any changes to the stock.

I have one in 300 win. I glass bedded and put a timney trigger in it. It shoots really well on steel to 1k. The new HACT trigger in the newer ones is really good you probaly wont have to replace it, just flush it with lighter fluid since they use grease to assemble them. Does it have the houge stock with the bedding block?

Use match loads with 175 gr. or heavier bullets and it will get out there. Black Hills Ammunition, Hornady and Federal all have match loads for the '06. Make sure the barrel is free floated and, ideally, glass bedded. Your trigger will make a huge difference in your ability to make the shots. Know that a factory barrel will probably not stay stable as it heats up after ten shots or so. You should shoot a 20 shot string with 15 seconds between shots at shorter range to see what it will do. Match barrels are a must for those who want to be successful but by all means see what your rifle will do.
If you are not hand loading, get to it.

I got started shooting 1k yds with that same rifle using 178grn AMAX over H4350. It worked for banging steel until the barrel got hot, but I quickly upgraded to something more suited for target shooting.
