Howa 1500 action and others...

In the next year I plan on rebuilding my .25-06 into a long range deer gun. Going with the .25-06 AI just because I have about 11 or 1200 115 Bergers.

Here are a few questions I have to ask.

Howa hard would it be to cut the metric threads on the action to standard? Is it even possible?

I plan on having the barrel melonited after chambering and threading. Would I still be able to apply Duracoat?

Does someone like PTG or others make bolts for the Howa 1500? I couldn't find any so far.

Been trying to get ahold of McMillan to see if they'll inlet for a Howa action. Just wondering if others have done this?

Thanks for looking! :)

Welcome fellow HOWA fan. (I'm a 30-06er and working toward funding my 30 cal build).

Threads = hard. There might be a machinist out there, but it'll be hard enough to get your barrel off, that I'd stick with the metric threads. Most good shops can cut them.

Painting ontop of melonite? Unsure, but I don't see why not.

Bolts for the HOWA 1500 LA, I think you are stuck with standard. Nothing wrong with it, just get it trued with the action pre-barrel install.

Manners is the stock manf. you are looking for.

I'd also imagine truing Howa action is similar to that of a 700 but again I could be wrong.

I think trueing is similar to 700.

See Manners T2 for similar stock.

Well, it does look like my option is the manners stock. Still unsure on the melonite/cerekote
