how to shorten mcmillan stock length of pull

i have a mcmillan game scout standard fill that i would like to shorten the length of pull on. has anyone done this and what was your method?

To add a little bit to what Nat said, if you get into the soft inner foam of the stock you will need to make or buy some threaded inserts to glue into the foam and use threaded screws to attach the buttplate. The foam won't hold a wood screw and won't hold the inserts too well either if you torque them very much. Adding some epoxy to hold the buttplate on helps also. What you get into depends on how much you shorten it.
 
What I do is carve or mill out the foam about 3/8th's deep into the foam and make a piece of wood to fit inside with a little slop and epoxy it in on all sides and back.I use marine tex for the epoxy.You could probably make the whole patch out of marine tex and set the screw ecutcheons in the marine tex .
 
Here is the stock this thread was started about. I used a 12'' miter saw with fine blade with two layers of tape on the stock.
