How to replace recoil pad w no screws?

The rifle is a Japan Weatherby Mark V in 340wby. The Uncle Mike's recoil pad is hard as a rock. I can't see where screws would be to remove it, please see pics. Is this just epoxied on? And if so, how do I remove it without damaging the stock?

Thanks in advance.

I remember attaching recoil pads years ago that had a blind hole as seen from the back (before attaching). The directions said to put a Phelps screw driver into the hole from the back and stretch the rubber outward and make a slit with a sharp knife. The screws were inserted with the rubber stretched out, and the screwdriver shaft was to be covered with paste wax to allow turning without marring the rubber. When the rubber over the screw holes was relaxed, the slits became virtually invisible.

Alternatively, some of those early Black pads came with Black rubber plugs that were to be glued in after the screws had been tightened into the stock.

In neither instance, was there much indication of any holes in the pad.

Hacksaw the rubber off if you can’t find the screw slits. If you do hit a screw, cut around it to expose it for removal.
If the hard plastic of the pad is epoxied on, you can soften the epoxy with a little heat.

Cant say for sure, but I have seen pads attached in the moulding process, which I do suspect for that one.

I had same Decellerator pad attached with screws. There were holes in it that I could not see. Only by putting a Phillips head screw driver against it and feeling my way around did I find them. Then it was just a matter of push to follow the hole to the screw in the stock.
