How to remove the Carbon Ring

Have designed a tool for removing the Carbon Ring in the front of the Chamber. In my PALMA RIFLE .

It works very well.

I built 22-250 , tried the same procedure , however it will not remove all the Carbon Ring. I use the Bore Scope to check before, during and after using the cleaning process, I have used 3 sizes of Bore
Brushes , 22 , 6mm, 270 , the 270 did the best job , but not clean. Using , patches on and off the bore
Brush. Used , 2 bore solvent and the best is KRIOL ON THE BRUSH AND PATCH.

WOULD YOU ALL , PASS ALONG THE PROCESS YOU USE , STEP BY STEP.

This is how I remove the carbon ring from my 22-250 rifle chamber. Put a .25 caliber bronze brush on a Sinclair chamber cleaning rod with a non-rotating handle. Slide the brush into the chamber until it runs up to the end of the chamber, you will feel noticeable resistance when it reaches the rifling. Spin the rod with your fingers for a count of 50. Remove the brush. Run a dry patch down the bore and inspect with the borescope. Quite often that is enough to completely remove the carbon ring. If some remains repeat with the bronze brush until the carbon ring is gone. If a carbon ring still remains replace the bronze brush with a stiff .25 caliber nylon brush. Load the tip of the brush with IOSSO or Flitz paste bore cleaner. Put a bore guide in the receiver. Slide the brush into the bore guide until it runs up to the end of the chamber. Spin the rod with your fingers for a count of 25. Remove the brush, run a dry patch down the bore and inspect with the borescope. That will always do the job.

This method works well if you do it every time you clean the barrel. The carbon ring will build and require more effort than I described unless you keep up with it and remove it every time.

Soak Kroil over night, patch it clean

Use J-B Bore Cleaning Compound on the end of a slightly over sized bronze bore brush for your chamber. Spin it about 30 to 40 times at the end of the chamber. Do that each time you fire 60 to 80 rounds down your barrel. Do it religiously, and you won't see any carbon build up at the end of the chamber. :)

I use the Sinclair Chamber Plug every third cleaning but I use Bore Tech C4 Carbon Remover and also let it sit overnight with the barrel full and sitting upright.

The Sinclair 6mm BR Chamber Plug I ordered will not fit in the chamber with the O Ring installed. This was a problem on both my 6mm BRs. I called Sinclair and told them and they sent me another one but it has the same problem. I think the grove for the O Ring is not deep enough. I just put the chamber plug with the O Ring installed in my hand drill and ran it lightly against a piece emery cloth to reduce the diameter of the O Ring. This works just fine and the plug installs smoothly and does not leak. The chamber plugs I have purchased from Sinclair for other calibers all work good with no modifications.
