How to reduce SD & ES

I guess no one is going to share where they found "multiple, reliable, published sources" or "several sources" of load data for this bullet/cartridge combination? I was hoping to expand my horizons.... I've only found one reliable published source.

#9,,,,most of the ctgs that people with custom bbls and actions are shooting will perform at much higher vel/pressures than the same cal in a factory "hunting" rifle,,,,there are NO reliable published sources for PPC/BR "B"enchrest rifles,,,,(or and 8 twist 22-250)you can find starting loads that are lawyered up to the point that they are not competetive ,,,,the secret to low ES/SD is to have high chamber pressure ,,,,you can weigh and measure to the .000001 gr and if you dont have adequate breech pressure it wont burn rite and it wont shoot rite,,,,just about everybody that has give you advice/load info have derived their answer from years of experience and much trial and error,,,not from a reloading manual,,,,Roger

Thanks JCS, I'll have to pick up a Berger manual.

I'm not sure if I'm getting much value out of mine to be honest. It seems to be coming at loads from a different perspective to the other manuals I have. The forewords to each cartridge do make a good read though.

They are quoting the following for your load - Min - 32.0; Max - 35.8 with 105% fill density. Strictly speaking they are figures based on the 75gr match vld target bullet.

Based on some earlier communication with Berger I'd be highly suspicious that many of the loads in their manual are just based on Quickload Data rather than actual testing.

Practically, though, the data is just as useful.

To reduce your ES, wet tumble your brass in stainless media. This will remove carbon from the inside of your necks and increase their bite on the bullets. This in turn will make combustion more uniform.

Or u can chase the lands and keep readjusting your load.

The best way I found to reduce ES and SD is to just LIE about it. I do the same with the gas mileage in my trucks. Makes me feel much better ;D
I’m thinking you On to something. My most accurate loads do NOT show best ES/SD. I HAVE SEVERAL PROFESSIONALLY PREPARED RIFLES WITH TRUED REM 700 action and premium barrels in stocks with aluminum bedding blocks. Different calibers same result. I use benchrest loading techniques always. BUT BUT I have a few real bench rest guns properly bedded and stocked with aftermarket high-end actions (Panda, Barnard) they immediately showed single digit SD’s with first loads (best guess) while fire forming brass. Wonder?
