how to practice 600 BR targets on steel????

I bought my own Shotmarker this year - thought that it would be useful for sighting in at Homerange's place. ( Thanks Rob) but - I find it just as useful to use for practice at another range, where I can place it at 500/600 and practice - without several hundred yds of walking to change targets. You don't need a full size target board - mine has an 800mm by 800mm sensor area and fits in the back of my 4x4. I use a 75mm coloured dot as an aiming mark. The frame was cut out of 1/2 in ply and I use screw in tent pegs and a couple of aluminium tubes to support it. ( sorry about the pommie spelling...)
painted plates have worked for me so far at 500y to 1K— i have thought about a shotmarker though. the downside of the plates is i dont have targets to keep. shotmarker would provide that. So thanks for the info about the target board. i was wondering about this. I have been using 2” aiming dots(50mm) but am trying smaller ones. it seems aim small shoot small works. have you used any form of target camera?

This is the Shotmarker target - just packing the car for a range day tomorrow - Club 500yd shoot - I'll get the 6BR in the back in the morning. Taking the new 6BRX for a sighting in and ammo fireforming session and the 223 Tikka to blow the cobwebs out and sight in a Burris XTR 2 8-40.

The frame is cut from 1/2in ply and a "stolen" realtors sign in the middle. The 2 in hardwood bar at the bottom takes 2 pegs and the aluminimum tubes bolt on the top corners - 45 deg to the rear with 2 more pegs. Works fine - well large enough for 600 yd shooting. Not the best pix - but it's sunny here at 5-30pm and my drive faces west. The target face is one of the NRA's downloaded from the website.

I'll add to NZFclass target frame(s). We use PVC pots at the ranges I place my target at. There are 4x4' frames. Ideal material would be aluminum and that will be down the road some time. Etargets are about the same price as a target cam if you're buying the upper scale one. Just love my etarget even at 100 yds it can be useful. Old photo. Both have a AR500 plate to protect the Target hub in case an inadvertent round comes in

Get some white paper plates and place them on a frame with backing. Cut them the same size as the steel in your competition. No spots dots just plain white. Its harder than you think. LOL
