How to modify AICS Magpul for a Dasher

One of my Dashers worked fine with stock Magpul AICS mags, and one didn't.
My Dasher repeater is a Curtis Vector bedded into a KMW Sentinel chassis. The Vector was designed to utilize AW mags. It will work with AICS but they tend to go up just a little too far. I have to remember to give a little downward tug on the mag after I seat it.

I can confirm the above works. Instead of the spacer the OP used, I used a 1/2”x1/2” square dowel of balsa sanded to the correct measurements and sealed with super glue to increase durability. $1.99 in parts.

I have been looking at my mag and it seems like putting a spacer in the front with a redesigned follower would work best. How did you keep the spacer from putting a lot of pressure on the mag spring? My mags have 2 ridges that keep the spring rearward.

I modified the follower and base to keep the spring in the forward most position. Yes, the spring rides along the spacer but it’s very smooth so there is no binding.

I can load 6-8 in my Magpul 10 rounder with a 6br cartridge than the follower will nose dive. My Origin will run the 6-8 flawless. I think I may just buy a MDT.

I am working on a new printable follower, baseplate, and spacer. If it is worth using I will share stl files. Seems like it shouldn’t take $130 per magazine to come up with a good reversible solution. If it doesn’t, it will be a fun process anyway.

I have had decent luck with straight magpul aics mags and a 6 bra. I use a piece of plastic in the back of the mag to hold the follower down and keep the rounds loaded forward. If i work the follower down with the plastic rod, while loading the rounds, it feeds well. If i put too much cant on the follower, it will turn sideways and get stuck. I also have a mdt 6bt mag that works pretty well. Seems to be running ok, roughly 600 rounds on that mag.

I purchased a 12 round MDT for 6br. I think I'll purchase a 3 pack of 10 round Magpul mags and modify them also.

So this guy must have drawn up the parts and had them 3D printed.

He put the spacer in the front which I think would make inserting the cartridges more difficult.

I am a beginner at making 3D CAD models. It would be nice if someone on this site was good at that. We could then send the models to one of the 3D printer companies like Shapeways to get parts made. Maybe we could get Magpul to make the magazines but I am guessing the market might be a little small to justify setting up a new injection molding.

I have been testing the magazines with the spacer up front now that I have my rifle complete. I have not had a chance to shoot it but I have had no feeding issues with dummy rounds. This is with the 10rd magazine with +2 printed spacer. Dasher rounds aren't that easy to insert into them even without the spacer. It's not that hard to get them done without tools but I did design a mag loader to help push the follower and other rounds down that is similar to one that another member prints and sells on the forum.
