how to make a 6br feed

i have stiller predator short action with hynged floorplate set up for a .308 and 6.5x47. im thinking about putting a 6br barrel on there for shooting foxes with 58 gr pills. what mods do i have to do to the mag to get it to feed reliably?

.

I made the Mike Bryant mod last week. And I could not get my 6BR to feed reliable. I would say just about 60%.

The problem I faced is that the cartridges only touch in one point, near the shoulder, with the cartridge under it. And it allows the round to flip point down, just enough for the bolt to pass over it, not feeding.

And when it flips point down (just a little, may be 10grades), when feeding, the point stuck against the magazine box.

Have to figure out what to do...

The quandry your facing is the same I faced several months ago and the results were the same. The only reliable method is a single stack mag.

That led me to Gary Eliseo's Tube Gun the rem 700 repeater model. thats what I think I am going to do...

Wyatt's Outdoors in Medford OR. now makes a single stack magazine box with follower that is a drop in for the Rem.700 SA BDL and ADLs for the BR family.

Yeah what the cat from Oz said, inquiring minds want to know if there is any firsthand sucsess stories with this box?

Addendum: Went and looked at Wyatts, all they show is an internal box that holds two shells. Is there more than this I am not seeing?

yeah i had a look at it aswell seems pritty simple but doesnt show what spring to use with it. but yes does it work? that is the big question!

.

I sent an email to Wyatt but got no answer yet.

Only two rounds seems pretty strange... there are a couple of european gun makers that makes magazine feed rifles for 6mmBR, like Tanner, Bleiker and Sig.
And they have up to 10 6BR rounds in magazine...

Heck, we cant even get a reliable aftermarket assembly for using existing AR15/10 mags in avg 700/70/77's.

Now that would be a money maker..

found the solution boys!!!!!

i was messing around at a friends place with my tikka M55 and some of his 6br cases (because it has a single stack mag). it would feed if you cycled it moderatly fast to fast but slowly it would jump out. i think i could make it work if i extended the mag lips further forward and changed the way the spring is mounted on the follower.

so the solution is buy a sako!! hahahaha

while i was messing around my friend was bragging (friendly bragging ;) ) about his sako 75 varmint s/s laminated 6ppc that he had reamed out to .243 and how many fps and how tight it shoots. so i grabbed the original 6ppc mag dropped 4 6br cases in and it feeds sweet as! ;D just needed that ah haaaa moment for things to come together. its good because you can top load through the port and detach the mag aswell.

so now ive bought an ex 6ppc now .243 sako 75 that shoots great and may soon be a 6br!
