How to book

Can anyone recommend a book that explains the hows and whys of some of the things you discuss here. Kind of an "Accurate Shooting for Dummies". I have been reading this site for a while and would like to get into precision shooting and just do what I can to make my own rifles more accurate.

I suggest you start with this book. I purchased mine in 97' and still refer to it. I would like to see a modern updated version as well.

One of the best books out there is Handloading for Competition by Glen Zediker available from Sinclair's or David Tubbs site.
If I had to recommend just one book this would be it.

I would agree. Lots of great technical info, and Glen is a good read to boot!! :-)

Another good book is the "Precision Shooting Reloading Guide". The title is a bit misleading, as it contains no load data. What it contains is information about loading for the various precision rifle disciplines that are popular in the US.

Note that different sports have different needs - a benchrest shooter can wear out a barrel on 10 cases, while a highpower shooter may need a minimum of 500-1000 to keep up with an active shooting seasion. Loading practices between disciplines will vary, due to a number of reasons - these are spelled out in the book.

The book is well regarded, and available through a number of sources.
