How to Attach Mirage Shields?

Been busy. If I think to, I'll try to post something tomorrow. Nothing special, just very functional. Pretty much a matte black 2x24 strip of fiberglass, .010 thick. I think Speedy's daughter makes some "designer" carbon fiber ones, though.
Here's a couple of pics. Not sure how good or bad the pics are yet. One is shiny side up and the other, down. I'll be leaving the matte side up on mine.

Hard to see much difference from what I can tell in the pics and these don't have velcro yet

One more.. Again, .010 fiberglass with black vinyl on one side. Tough and can be rolled up. I like these suckers pretty well.

After reading all the posts, no one has mentioned that when the Velcro tabs get hot, they come loose from the bbl. I've tried multiple times and it never fails that the mirage shield comes loose in the middle of a string of fire. Being a sling shooter, it's a real PITA to deal with that issue. If there is something out there to solve this issue, I'm all ears.

Never had this happen and used it for years, I buy the 2" wide Velcro and cut it vertical then cut it in half (end up with a 1"X1" strip, if I need to take it off I use my fingers to peel it then alcohol to clean it, now I just use a rechargeable fan 16" I think from Amazon Geek Aire.

Ther's always someone that will object to gaining an advantage..so to speak.
There will always be the guys that consistently finish in the top 6 or 7 shooters but never medal. They seem to find things to complain about that I had never even thought twice about. One time I shot WITHOUT a mat underneath me (because I forgot it at home) and I actually had a guy come up and ask me if it was “LEGAL” to shoot without a mat. I laughed and said, “I sure hope so, because with the price of powder, I had to sell mine just to shoot today’s match.” Lol

Brown wrapping paper and masking tape works fine. Christmas wrapping is usually too fragile and some find the little snowmen distracting. Target paper strips have long been a standby. A real upscale system can be made with aluminum flashing and duct tape. Speaking of duct tape; duct tape on it's own can work well. Use two strips of tape, one three inches shorter than the other. Stick them face to face (harder than it sounds), leaving an inch and a half of adhesive showing at each end. Stick it on the barrel. A variation uses two equal lengths which are offset to expose adhesive from one strip at the muzzle end (this sticks to the barrel), and adhesive from the other exposed at the rear end (this attaches to the scope). For the artistically inclined, duct tape is available in various colors. I used one like this for a while, in basic silver. I labeled it the "Red Green signature model", but quit using it for fear of copyright infringement.
My Springfield rifle uses the original hand guard as a mirage shield and this works out OK. I think an aluminum guard made with aluminum flashing might be a classy alternative. WH
