Hey All-
A lot of members overlook this particular function, but it's one that can have significant benefits for the site. Simply put, clean out your old PM's. SMF (our forum software) makes it easy - if you go to 'My Messages', then 'Actions' and 'Prune Messages', it will ask you to set a limit on messages to prune. It's in days, so I typically set it to '90' to delete any messages older than 90 days. But, you can set to whatever you want, though I probably would max out at 365 (1 year).
This will save some space and processing load since the DB will have to do a lot less work when it performs functions related to personal messages.
