I think the main reason nobody makes brass that Short Range Benchrest Shooters use is because we are so darned anal about everything.
I credit the success many of us have in Short Range Benchrest to the 220 Russian Case and the 6BR Norma case.
A top quality 30 BR would be great. How many 6BR cases a year sold by Lapua end up as 30BR? But anything brought out would have to be as good as Lapua, both in strength and precision of manufacture.
True, Norma brought out their 6PPC case. But as usual, the screwed it up. The diameter at the web is .0025 smaller than what the vast Majority of Benchrest Shooter’s reamers, which are based on a blowed out 220 Russian. The necks are also too thin. A case with a seated bullet will exhibit close to .0025 clearance before turning in a .269 neck. After just a very light cut to get them concentric, they have close to .004.
And their alloy simply is not as strong.
I tried some, and at 3400+ FPS, it was dead after three firings.
With all due respect to the OP, the biggest complaint about Remington is their quality control in keeping consistent wall thickness is pretty bad. The brass is plenty strong, just not very well manufactured when it comes to precision. Off center flash holes are pretty common.
But even Lapua can get it wrong. Last year, I bought 100 Lapua 30-06 cases. The neck uniformity was pretty bad, some as much as .002 difference in wall thickness. In my opinion, that’s a lot, especially when you are not turning necks.
If you did bring out a 6PPC or 30 BR case, make the dimensions closer to what BR Shooters use. Forget about all of that Sako and PPC USA stuff. Find out what we are using.
