How much do you charge to chamber a barrel?

I was just curious. I have heard from $250 to $650 to chamber a pre profiled barrel in my area. So, I was just curious what something like this costs in other parts of the world.

I don't chamber barrels, but the same guy has had all my business for 12 years and for good reason. I'm sure I could get it done for less $$$ bet NEVER better workmanship. A good chamber,crown job is worth whatever the market will bear .

Yah, I know. It is the whole shipping off my action and waiting a year to get it back... I am sure there are smiths that turn stuff around in a given time frame, but I admit I don't know many people.

If you go by the hour and equipment costs a barrel chamber should cost $1000. Hard to make a living being a gunsmith. Got the 4hrs of phone calls per day not to mention the drop ins

If it's a custom action, your smith may not need the action to chamber a barrel for it. I've done them that way but still prefer to have a known to be properly fitted barrel in hand, to duplicate. So, if you have a worn out barrel that fits it, you can send it to me and I could chamber it from that.
