How Many Thousandths

For initial load development with all but cast bullets in a reasonably accurate rifle, I use three increments varying by .003". The longest OAL I use is always close to, but short of, land engagement, usually by about .003", regardless of the make or composition of bullet. Most of the time, one of the three OALs will stand out as noticeably better than the other two as for accuracy. The use of a Sinclair "nut" (consistent and as simple as simple can be) will help in determining exact bullet seating depth.

It depends on the particular bullet and ’jump’ distance IME. When running a bullet less than 0.015” off light touch I have found a couple of thousandths either way can open up group size considerably in a fully rested F-open gun. I always explore much longer jumps as I find that the seating depth ‘node’ is much broader if I can find a long jump that is giving me acceptable groups for F-class (I want .3 moa at distance over 5 shots in calm/no mirage conditions). This would be unacceptable in benchrest but would give me a gun that should shoot sub .5 moa in all 3 matches over a full day in a variety of conditions for F-class.

The answer depends upon your precision goals.

Yes Sir. I watch as many as I can find by these dudes. Just like to see and hear different opinions and results from the different guys, guns, practices, and loads.
Yea, they are interesting for sure but be caution - if the premise in not base on some rational concept then be wary and proceed with care. Even if the premise sounds rational - be caution.

Some of the concepts that I found interesting were the cleaning methods in the videos listed in my post BUT before I jump in wholesale, I'm doing some testing. I'm particularly interested in the concept of achieving and maintaining "copper equilibrium" and "minimum disturbance cleaning" to eliminate first clean bore flyers and retain maximum capable precision over a season of varmint hunting. Even an old dog like me can learn new tricks or at least I'm open to it.;)
