How many of you use 95gr for 600/1000

How many of you use 95gr bullets for 600/1000 yds in 6mmBR in 8 twist barrels ?? I ask because I have a lot of them VLD's.
Thanx again,
Dave

I have used them (Berger 95) in F-Open out to 1k. I used moderate loads ~2980 fps in an 8tw 6BR. I could run with the big cals out to 500 yards and if things went really well for me I can hang in there up to 900...at 1k forget it...compare scores to the F-TR guys :)

I don't use them, but....

I've compared the 95 vs 105 ballistics, and it looks like it's wash for the most part. The only way I would shoot the 95's though, would be if they held a distinct accuracy advantage over the 105's.

If not, there's always a market to peddle the 95's and replace with the 105's.

I compete to win....not to just place....

I shoot a lot of F-class matches at a 500 yard range. My best scores to date have been shot with the 95gr Berger VLD's. I tried them once at 600 yards and they did quite well at that distance also. Never tried them at 1000 yards. I am struggling at that distance more because of driver error than anything else.

If they don't work for you and you want rid of them let me know!

I've tried the 95vld in my 6BR at 600, they shot ok, I just think out of my rifle the 105 hybrids were better. I've shot them(105 hybrids) from 100 out to 1,000 with decent success.

I shoot the 95vld in my 243 because of twist limitations. I have never shot it in a match past 600. It shoots head to head with anything to 600 in my opinion. I have shot on paper to 1000 and performs well if I do my part. I am going to try it in a match in the next few months at 1000 just to compare. I am running mine at 3050 fps. I am out to have fun so it is more about competing with myself more than anything. Load some up and shoot them. Thats the only way to find out. If your shooting F class shoot one string with one and one string with the other direct comparison. Matt

I think the last I looked at my velocities the 95 at around 3150 they had a slight advantage on wind drift over what my accurate load with a 105vld
. It drops a tick more than the 105 but holds it's own in the wind at a higher speed.

YMMV, Jim

They work good, my friend shot them at the IBS Nationals, and did well, had a couple of 50 score targets. I have shot them and found that they shoot good. I have another friend that shoots them and they do good for him.

I would think you would need a 9 or 10 twist to get them to their best potential for 600 yrd competition.JMO.

Nobody shot two 50's........ jim

You better look again. At the 2012 IBS 600 nationals held at St Louis MO. There was a bunch of 50's shot in 1 relay, My friend Bill Truman shot a 50 along with a bunch of others in one of the relays in light gun. He was shooting 95 gr berger bullets in a 6x47 lapua chambered Savage. He then shot another 50 in another relay in heavy gun. If you look on the IBS page for the match reports the 50's are blacked out, as there was highlighted.

Just in the second target of light gun there was 17 shooters who shot a 50 score. Richard Schatz shot back to back 50's in light gun in target 1 and 2.

Well I shot two 50's 1st and 2nd target of heavy gun, and I am sure I wasn't the only one. I was running the 105 hybrids.
