With the 308 Win.....how many of you neck turn your brass ? Skin turn , full turn ?
I'm doing a skim turn now with Lapua brass but thinking about just expanding and that's it. I've been turning cases since the 90's. It's beginning to get old...but don't want to give up any accuracy !

Reload for consistency and minimize vertical. The wind is in charge after that.

I hear you regarding case prep. When in doubt, do a side by side test with turned vs. non at the longest range you have available to test on.
If you are not using the Palma brass you might consider them. Ever so slightly better ES/SDs. Might help with vertical but in the F-class game you do not have much available to play with.

I turn, if for no reason other than that it seems to make everything else more consistent (seating, sizing). I don't see the point of a "skim" - if you're going to take the effort to turn, do it fully and get a chamber that's sized appropriately for the brass. I turn the minimum off to get all the cases to the same thickness. With Lapua brass, that winds up being about 13.5 thous.

That said, I know some very good shooters (better than me) who don't turn and who can shoot some impressively small groups, so the effect is small.

I do not turn at all. So far, I have no reason to believe I've been giving up precision because of it. In my rifles it's possible it could make a small difference, but I'm not sure I could reliably shoot that difference, or at least it would take a lot of rounds to convince me it was truly an improvement.

I do skim turn right now....it gives me a 98% plus cleanup. Using Palma brass. I have enough clearance to try no neck turn and like suggested do a test. Skim turned brass is .014".

I don't have to due to my chamber. But I do it anyways to create as consistent cases as I can. No negative effects for new as far as case life. So why not. If I think it helps then that's one less thing I question during load testing. I try to keep everything as consistent as I can control and know how to

I turn all my Lapua brass to .013 which gives me .004 neck clearance total.

Ive turned plenty of brass in my life, but no longer will I turn just to turn. If I have a no turn chamber I will not make excessive clearance just to say I turned. I think a chamber with proper neck clearance is better than a too much clearance and a turned piece of brass. Gene Beggs is proving this with the 220 Beggs and 6mm Beggs chamberings.

I skim turn so I can use a honed sizer from forster and not use the pull through neck expander thingydo.

Unless you have a neck turn chamber (recommended) I would just knock off the high spots. SAAMI spec chambers are so loosely goosey there's a bit of a hot dog in a hallway effect. You're probably better off jamming your bullets (and shooting a bullet likes to be jammed). You just don't want that one raised neck nib or burr pushing you off the chamber.
