How long does it take to set back a barrel and re-chamber?

How many hours do you think it takes to set back a barrel and re-chamber, from start to finish...remove barrel, cut, chamber and re install?

Thanks

Yep. Three hours.
And index it so that what is left of the marking on the old set up is at the bottom of the barrel when installed on the action so it doesn't interfere with the new marking. Now, if you are only setting back a short distance, you may be able to save the marking but it will be closer to the action.
How far are you setting back and why?

Just enough to re chamber.

I feel like I must be approaching the maximum rounds for this barrel (.308 @ 3500 rounds) and the throat is a little cracked.

Also I had a new reamer designed I wanted to try out.

Thing is it still shoots bug holes.

I'm no expert, but if it's still shooting bugholes, why fix what's not broken?

It took my gunsmith and me 3 hours to set back a 7mm RSAUM today; touch up the crown, and reprint barrel data next to the receiver. That's on an old Grizzly...between centers.

Unscrew the barrel out of the action: 5 min
Measure the original threaded tenon length: 5 min
Place the barrel in a 3 jaw in one lathe and cut the old threaded tenon off: 10 min
Take the barrel out of that lathe and place it in the other lathe in 2 spider chucks: 10 min
indicate both ends: about 15 min
Cut the tenon diameter to proper length and thread: 15 min
If a Rem 700, counterbore: 10 min
Rechamber the barrel: about 20 min
Polish chamber: 5 min
Take out of the lathe and clean: 10 min
reinstall on action: 5 min

Other actions involved like get a drink, wash my hands, take a leak: 15 min

Total: about 125 minutes at the most.
Add 15-20 for a Winchester extractor groove
Subtract 10 min for a Mauser

Now John, you know that for some it will take a lil longer cause they will have to stare at it for while first.
When I try something out of the ordinary, I look at it a while and think while I am on the crapper, but when it's something pretty routine, I just crank it out, collect the fee, and move on to the next job.
