Bear with me on this one! I recently mounted a scope on a rifle. Upon bore sighting, I was having trouble getting it on. P.O.A. was right of P.O.I, so I used a .20 insert (Burris) in the back rotated the physically thicker one to left. And a .10 in the front rotated opposite obviously, I miked to check thickness of inserts. It also took all of the windage in the scope to get it on , two or so clicks were remaining. Also confirmed at the range. Then I removed base, and used a 50 ft. length of 30lb small diameter fishing line with a plumb-bob stretched tight in calm conditions, about a half inch above reciever to check screws. It looks to be about an inch and a half off in 50 ft.Cant be sure as this is a primitive method but in my trade string lines dont tell lie's. So with that in mind is this a issue with holes tapped for base? or can it be the surfaces of the reciever /barrel? And do you think Savage will help? Its a "G" prefix. I am not the original purchaser. Thanks!
