How good is good enough for tuning???

So this has likely been discussed before. But I can’t seem to find it.
Shooting F-open, after initial load development and you start tuning your load for vertical at distance. I usually use 600 yards.
What is acceptable? Or good enough?
We all keep trying to make it a bit better, at what point are we just wasting bullets and barrel life?
Is there a number that if you get to just quit?
I am pretty new to this, shot F-open 2 years now. This is the first year I have spent any time tuning. And obviously didn’t shoot as much this year as I wanted to. Also the first year shooting a 284.
Ranges are pretty limited with everything closed.
My regular gun is a Bat M with an IBI barrel, back up gun is a Borden BRMXD with an IBI barrel.
Bat shoots a little better than the Borden.
