How far do you seat 155 smk palma off the lands?

Just picked up some 155 smk palma to try in my .308. Seems like im going to have to jump them .060 just to get a decent amount of the bullet in the case. Has anyone had any luck jumping them that far?

I asked a similar question recently and had responses of up to .080" jump to .020" jammed. Most seemed to prefer .040" jump. Personally I purchased a PTG reamer designed for the newer 155 SMK Palma/155.5 Berger Fullbore and jump .020" while just keeping some bearing surface in the case neck. I believe the Sierras are fairly tolerant of differing seating depth.

Stock Remington with 155 palmas are way off the lands in my .30-06 and my brother's .308. Very good groups.

I say don't be afraid of the jump. ;)

In highpower we seated all our bullets so the loaded round would function or cycle through the magazine. These rounds all shot outstandingly well. I wish I could hold as tight as they would shoot. I never could get anything to shoot with the bullet into the lands. If you have a good straight chamber your 90% home. The only thing you have to do next is find the right powder and bullet, dope wind, develope a good consistent hold and let off from shot to shot. And you will most likely end up in with the top of the competators .
