How does the 6 BRA do

i'll cut him some slack, he did ask a different question and a specific one:
6 BRA as a 100/200/300 yard gun.
i'd like to hear if there is any data.

As far as I know a few people are trying the 6BRA with bullets in the 80gr range in 12 twist barrels for SR BR. Early results seemed promissing but I have not heard much lately. Likely we will hear more as this season progresses.

There are also several guys experimenting with various 6 Grendel cartridges. With light bullets most guys think the BR case holds too much powder for it to work well. Jackie Schmidt won the Texas State Championship last weekend, not sure but think he was shooting either 6ppc with 80 grainers out of a 12 twist or a 6 Grendel, not sure. He could have been shooting a 30BR.

at I00 200 300 etc? If it does so well at 600. thoughts?
thanks.
I have messed around with one. I compete nbrsa 100-200 yard. The bra will shoot some small groups at 100 and 200
It all depends what you want to use it for.
IME it's not the right tool in a 10.5lb competition legal LV gun
If it's in a heavier gun for fun matches it's great

Don't think you'll catch Bart shooting one in short range BR. Drawing conclusions from one group at one distance and extrapolating is absurd! Record groups are outliers, aggs are indicators, lots of aggs are stronger indicators.

I was just causing trouble, lol.

Even so, if I were to bet, it'd hold it's own up close too.

Bart, try it and make me look like I know something!

I've been working with a 6 Grendel and 80 grain bullets a bit of late. It really does show a lot of promise. It was easy to find a solid load with it. Now, I'm just trying to improve upon a very good shooting round wherever I can find a tad. It has about 700 rounds on the tube, so I'm still learning, but IIRC, I've shot it at 4 matches and finished 1st or 2nd in at least one yardage in all of them. I shoot UBR, which is caliber neutral BR for score..against mostly PPC, Beggs and BR cartridges. There are some excellent shooters that are regulars at the ranges I shoot most. When you win or even finish well, you better have good equipment and you have to work for every bit.

Right now, I'm not sure if I'm giving up anything at 100, but at 200, it's better with the 80's than maybe anything I've shot.

I don't need custom dies. I use a type s redding Grendel die for a sizer and seat with a ppc seater, backed off.

The jury is still out but I don't have any complaints with it so far. It's a very capable cartridge.

Some version of a BRA is probably not too far behind it. :D

I agree with you both. 80s aren't as plentiful as 68s. I've only tried a couple of different bullets so far but am at a point where I've drawn no absolute conclusions and will try anything.

Barts 80 Dominator's have been very good in the two barrels I've tried, have some that Bro D made on his dies that are due for a good look. More to follow! Interesting thing is the 80GN Berger FB's were pretty good too.

Don Lahr will make you an 80gr. He gives you a few ogive and base configs to choose from. I’m working with them now trying to get a 8 ogive BT in tune for 200-300 yard fun matches. While I don’t quite have it yet, I don’t think it’s a bullet issue. I’m right around 3,400 FPS with both H4895 & XBR8208 in a 28”, .236 4 groove Krieger. Just need more time and some skill...
