How do you store your primers?

How do you store your primers in bulk?
Do you keep them sealed in ammo cans, tupperware, or other air tight containers?
On a shelf or in your cabinet in a temp/humidity controlled area?
On a shelf in a uncontrolled temp/humidity area?
Or do you split them into "long term/ short term" areas using a combination of both?
Just wondering how I want to set up my primer area in my new reloading room. Thanks guys.

In the factory packaging in my climate controlled basement. The temp varies between low 60's in the winter and mid 70's during the summer. Relative humidity is held between 40 percent and 50 percent.

The primers are used within 3 years of purchase.

I'm asking because I have been storing them in 30MM ammo cans and it's becoming a pain in the Ars to open the can and dig through it to find the desired kind and remove them and put everything back. Especially if it isnt needed to keep them fresh.

I would discourage storing powder nor primers in a hermetically sealed metal canister. If there is a fire or high enough heat you've created a bomb.

Because I do all my loading in the garage, I split into short term / long term. Short term are kept in my bench and typically used within a month, maybe 2 months tops. Anything that will not used in that short timeframe goes into a closet in the house. For that I use a large Plano sportsmans tote, works for powder too.

I don't do anything special with mine, I leave them in the boxes / containers they came in and put them on a shelf in my loading room.

I know it's been a while, but I remember when they were simply sitting on the shelves in the gun shops so I didn't see any reason to treat them any different when I got them home than they did in their shops.

Did I just say primers were sitting on the shelves in gun shops !!!......Aahh the good ole days !!!

I built this box for no real purpose years ago and it found its place as a primer stash box. I keep it in my wooden cabinets in “The Room”, it’s my 10’x12’ climate controlled reloading/gun room04BE2FF8-E428-4AD5-837E-CDE81DB0B6DB.jpeg.

I keep my primers in their original packaging in a conditioned =room (Heated and Air-Conditioned) well away from my powder storage.

I keep them in the original packaging, in shelves in my gun room. I installed some simple electronic locks to keep people out of them. Been doing it that way for three decades and never had a problem.

In their original packaging, in a steel cabinet with a "dehumidifying rod", in a dry basement. I have some Remington 9 1/2's that are at least 30 years old that still work just fine.

Normally just place them in these fishing tackle containers with an air tight seal.
