How do you get lead out of a 9mm barrel?

My all copper chore boy arrived and I spun some around a brush. Lube it up with a little Boretech Rimfire and went to work. Took surprisingly little effort to remove it.

Sharp shooter R's rimfire lead out. and follow directions, if you can get it into Aus/N.Z. not sure. other wise Hoppe's black copper/lead remover and lot of patches and a nylon brush.

Back in my LEO days, I used a Lewis Lead Remover to get rid of the lead.
If you keep your cast or swaged lead loads reasonable, ~900 fps, leading usually is kept to a minimum. Crank it up and you’ll paint the interior with lead.

My carry gun is a H&K USPc in 9mm, like the Glocks it has polygonal rifling and H&K recommends against lead bullets. Contrary, I tried the coated cast (lipstick) bullets with a variety of loads and sure enough they leaded the barrel. The issue is that firing jacketed bullets after leading a polygonal barrel can cause pressures to rise at a high level. I was amazed of the Internet claims that you can push them at 1200 fps w/o lead issues. After almost 45 years of carrying on the job and off, qualifying, matches and fun shooting, I’ve never seen jacketed bullets clean out a leaded barrel. Maybe it happens, I’ve never seen it.

I found a conventionally rifled after-market barrel for my H&K, my coated cast (DG bullets) shoot great, accurate and fragment on steel to avoid bounce back.

I usually wrap a few patches around a worn brush, dab it with Rem 40-X Bore cleaner and clean away. In a few minutes all fouling is gone.
