How do you clean a melonited barrel???

I shoud be getting my gun shortly and this is the first time I have had a barrel melonited. I was wondering what process I should use to first clean the barrel after the process has been done??

I understand that they have to be throughly cleaned before shooting the rifle for the first time. Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!!!

Raptor, I just received my first melonited barrel as well. My is a Bartlien and prior to having it melonited I called and talked to Frank at Bartlien Barrels and it just so happened he just received a barrel he had melonited by Joel at MMI. So what I have been told is to wrap some 0000 steel wool over a loose fitting brush or bore mop and apply some light oil and stroke the barrel a couple of hundred times or until shiny not letting the brush/mop exit the bore. Push a dry patch through every ten to twenty strokes. Take a chamber mop and 0000 steel wool chuck it in your drill to clean the chamber. Just don't over polish the chamber.

Use JB Bore paste or paste with a little lower grit.

I just now cleared up 2 with the steel wool that was recommended above. I did the chamber by hand and only 20-30 strokes in the bore. They went slick after the first few passes and decided that this was sufficient by the feel of the rod. I wish I was given instructions when I received them.
