House Rules vs Iron Fist

Competition purists will hate this question.... :)

Just started a small email contest group with 8 friends.....

Wondering if any local shooting groups have any special house rules to make things fair across a larger / diverse group of shooters.... handicapping systems, if you will.

For example: reloaders vs walmarters.... anyone give walmarters a single mulligan for the 1 in 20 that falls uncharacteristically 3MOA low to try to make up for the ammo.

For example: 1.5MOA (or whatever) targets vs 1MOA targets for iron sights vs optics

The NRA has set up a classification system, Marksman, Sharpshooter, etc. that roughly reflect the skill levels of shooters in that class, and they compete for awards in that division.
Iron sight shooters generally compete with iron sight shooters, but may compete against scope shooters if they wish. Scope shooters compete against scope shooters, here again within their skill classification.
Shoot a match or two and you will see how it works.

It is their choice to shoot junk ammo. I didn't see any minivans in the race this week.

Giggle.... but you won't see any sponsors on our hats either.

Just looking for a fun and maybe more fair way to have everyone compete. With 8 guys and 8 guns, there is not room for any classes/divisions/etc.

It does not get any more fair than giving everyone the opportunity to shoot their most accurate ammo and have them all shoot at the same size target. Does it?

On our 300 yrd range, we can only shoot 200 from prone and benchrest. Heatwaves, age and contour of the range prevent any other. Some guys shoot hunter/stock and others shoot F-TR/F-TR Open, scoped or iron sighted. Started out with a few shooters and now there are many because of the different classes. Everyone has fun. Who cares if a guy shoots his JC Pennys rifle he bought in 1970, or a Rem modified to single shot in a 40X stock. It's all about the having fun and comradeship. When we post the scores, there are classes of Hunter/Stock, F-TR and F-Open.
