Hot summer nights

Man.... you got to get some slow and easy Merle Haggard.

If you're getting into the good stuff (Maker's Mark, Rare Breed, etc) get some easy Jazz and lean back.

I'm a rum guy, myself. Mount Gay XO, Diplomático Single Vintage, Gosling's Papa Seal. Those are some very fine rums!

For the hot and slow nights I'll put on some Junior Kimbrough, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, and the likes. Even some British stuff like Black Cat Bones. I love the blues! But I do have some Sinatra, Brubeck, and other jazz. I'd have to look and see if I have any Merle Haggard.

I also love reggae.

It's currently 10pm here on the west coast. About 90° out still, after a 105° day.
Are you (per your profile) in Stockton, CA? That ain't exactly on the "west coast"! Later date, sure, but NOAA records show a high at Stockton airport yesterday (28 July) of 95, while Half Moon Bay (on the coast) recorded 65. Still, any old excuse to listen to Sir Ray!

It's going to be 103 here today, but where my 91-year-old mom lives (Lewiston, ID) expected 107. (Record? Naw, it was 115 there in August ... ahem ... 1962.) Yes, she has good A/C.

Yeah, not on the beach, but compared to the rest of the country its the west coast. SF and HMB are usually pretty cold this time of year, from the marine layer. Many days I can see it rolling over the Altamont from here.

Just got this in the mail today. The missus surprised me with it, because she knew I would never spend the stupid money they ask for this album. Daft Punk, Random Access Memories. I imagine its a bit out there for most of the fine folks here, but I have a soft spot for funk/disco and this being a modern take on that, with Nile Rodgers (Chic) and Pharrell on several tracks, it really brings that funkadelic vibe into the modern era. Add in original mastering by Bob Ludwig and final mastering by Antoine Chabert, you end up with a masterpiece of an album.

Only to further the legend of this album, it is the final album by the band, released 2013, and they broke up last year, after 28 years together.

Good food on the stove, great beer in hand, good tunes on the TT, can't find anything to complain about right now.

Cheers amigos!

I really appreciate your input on some of these classic C&W singers, its a genre not in my wheelhouse beyond the big names. I'm always looking to expand my record collection and these notes about who is a crooner, so and so is rhythm and guitar classic, etc really helps me out.

Please, feel free to add your favorites! Not much i won't listen too. I appreciate the art as a former musician myself. Besides, what kind of host would I be if I didn't have a record or three for every occasion?! Lol!
