Hot damn, finally.....

Found a consistent load that works for my 6-284. I pissed around for way too long and have been contemplating re-barreling or just selling out period.

Soooo, after a long session of studying my past notes and targets, in a last gasp effort, decided I should try some 107 Matchkings.

Suppose I'll have to keep it........or raise the price..........

The results from there.....got caught in a little let-up on the far left shot...

Moved back a little more.....to 1036....

Not bad considering the twitchy 5-10 mph quartering away wind.....

I think I'll keep it closer to the front of the safe now......

Congrats on finding The Load!

And those doggone 107 Matchkings are still plentiful, and reasonably priced.

Nice shooting BTW.

Thanks all,

I tried 105 VLD's in, out, all around the lands, several powders, plus 105 A-Maxes, and finally had settled on the 115 VLD's at 3200. It was a steady 1 MOA load, but had only ran it to 400. Still wasn't happy, though, till now, obviously.

Rod,

Unfortunately, not my place. I'm in a town of 400, but luckily, this farm is only 3 miles from me. I've stretched it to 1425 last year, and have been eyeballing a way to get a mile for my 338/300 Ultra.

And yes, Nomo, it is deer heaven.......

Dang I hate them long drives to the range!!! ;D

On a serious note, thanks for sharing the pix, Al....

I had some questions on the build particulars.

Specs are a S/S 700 long action, 26" Rock 8 twist, .268" tight necked 6-284 throated for the 115 VLD's or 105 A-Maxes. 107's are still half way in the neck with a square mark on the ogive. Magnum fill Classic in 50/50 black/gray, 4.5-14 Mark IV in 30mm Talley lightweights. Weighs in at 9 pounds, 8 ounces.

Secret load has the 107's scootin' along at 3325........

Al,Al,Al, Too many toys or too much time on your hands whichever. I like your style. Now chamber that in your next LR rig and get rid of those DASHERS ;) ;) ;).KIDDING. Nice huntin rig coyotes/deer beware!!!

Looks like you already been shooting...It's only April....thats cheating!!!

PS..what are those two pink ribbon thingies??? ;)

Al,
Show a picture of your shooting table. I like the looks of it. What is the covering on it and what kind of legs?

Got to agree with Martin. I do like the shooting table Alf! Is it a folding portable?
Thanks
Mark

Id recon!! Nice groups Alf. heck most bench guns wont shoot that darn good! Way to stick with it!! Lee

Love the gun, caliber, and pics. I have been working on a load for my
rechambered 6 x284. It likes 115 DTAC's at 3100 fps.

What is your secret load ? I shoot a 6x284 ,my load is 51grs of Re#22 behind Sierra 107 MK out of 30" bbl for a velocity of 3370 fps. I'm thinking of trying Re#25 .

Alf, back those 115's down to 3100 and see if the
groups tighten. Mine groups best there.

Birdog,

I tried Retumbo from 2960 thru 3176 and 7828 from 3060 thru 3315 with the 115's.

Nothing tops the 4831 and 107's that I've tried. I'm not chasing any more......
