Hornady VMax no penetration!?

I
Wow! 40-50 Roos in one night. Those things must be like wild hogs are here. Glad the meat goes to good use. I’d like to try a big chunk on my grill, with some Fava beans and a nice Chianti.
ll give you some scale, my state is 1.15 times the size of Texas. As a commercial harvest the government licenses us professional shooters a quota of 15% of the population for harvest. which is surveyed each year, kinda like your fish and game does. 2022 quota just came out and all up across the different Roo species we can harvest 1,692,207 Roos for the year in our state…..so yeah there is a couple hopping round

You're saying there is ELEVEN MILLION kangaroos in ONE STATE?

Do you trip on them on your way to the mailbox?
With a population density of just one kangaroo for every 18 acres, I’d say ‘no‘ to that question.

For comparison, Wisconsin has a population density of one human for every acre.

Think of it like cattle in TX. There are roughly 35 roos per square mile in NSW and there are roughly 48 cows per square mile in TX.

Please see attached commercial take for september this year if you look at bottom in %p 357,615 have been harvested for the year which equates to 3% of population. multiply that out and this years population was around 11,920,488. That why you have farmers putting 8ft fences around thier properties to try and save some grass for thier livestock

pretty much! There no big predators for stuff over here like you guys have….. all our dangerous stuff has fangs or swims. The odd wild dog is the biggest threat to them so nothing to keep them in check haha

Did anyone else have issues with hornady Vmax not penetrating before disintegrating and just inflicting external damage on a head shot?? I was running 223 AI 55gn vmax with 27.2gn Benchmark 2 Winchester brass and 7 1/2 rem primers. It became such an issue I sold my bulk pack and changed to nosler and have had no further issues, the noslers inflict max damage but only after proper penetration. Hornady projectiles seem so popular I can’t work out if this is common or I just got a bad batch
What are you shooting? I've shot coyotes, p dogs w Hornady V Max. Always worked well in a few calibers.
